Brevard friends, it’s that time of year again.

The rare few weeks when our ACs get a break, our pets turn into fuzzy heat-seeking missiles, and FPL somehow still finds a way to take our money.

If you’d rather not hand over your paycheck for “Florida winter” heating costs, here are a few tricks to stay warm without boosting FPL’s profit margins:

🔥 Cheap & Cozy Ways to Stay Warm (and Spite FPL):

  1. Reverse those ceiling fans, there’s a switch on top that spins them clockwise, pushing warm air down. (Yes, it actually works.)

  2. Draft-dodging DIYs, a rolled towel under the door does wonders. If you’re fancy, call it “weather-proofing.”

  3. Layer like you’re visiting Antarctica, because apparently 58°F is now “arctic” to us Floridians.

  4. Bake something, the oven doubles as a mood booster and a heater. Cookies > kilowatts.

  5. Use thick curtains, keeps the heat inside and gives your windows that “we’re surviving winter” look.

  6. Blankets everywhere, decorative and practical. Bonus points if you look like a burrito by 9 p.m.

  7. Unplug what you’re not using, FPL loves those vampire devices more than we love Publix subs.

  8. Cuddle up, family, pets, partner, or that one cat who usually hates you. All fair game.

Let’s keep our homes warm, our bills low, and our humor dark, just how FPL likes its profits.

Stay warm out there, Brevard.
